BEING KINDNESS - SIT TO BENEFIT

Come together for 24 hours of practice, from noon on December 9th to noon on December 10th. Join in for the whole 24 hr period or for just 1 hour, whatever your schedule, inspiration, and body permits. Focus on your practice of Shamatha, Ngöndro, Werma, or Kurukulla or a combination.

Year after year, the Boulder Shambhala community comes together to support the Boulder Shambhala Center as a place to practice meditation, to explore the Shambhala Buddhist path and build a society based on unconditional goodness. It is clear that we wouldn’t exist without such great support. Along the way, we experiment with different events to not only raise funds but to also nourish our sense of community. Hence, now the Sit To Benefit Sit-A-Thon!

    Join in as a Meditator:
Sign up, gather the support of sponsors, and sit from 1 to 24 hrs to help raise money.

Go to our Sit To Benefit site HERE, and put together a fundraising page about yourself. Specify how many hours of practice you intend to challenge yourself to achieve, WHY would you do such an outrageous thing?! Once your page is posted, you can send invitations to friends and family using the social media links right on your campaign page, and ask people to sponsor your goals. You can inspire sponsors by sharing why you want to help support the Shambhala Center and what it means to you!

    OR Sponsor a Meditator:
Too busy to sit? Or just out of town?
YOU can participate by sponsoring a meditator OR make a contribution to the general event HERE.

    Meditation, Teachings, and Food:
On the actual day of the Sit-a-Thon, Acharya’s Judith Simmer-Brown, Gaylon Ferguson, Susan Skjei and Dan Hessey, along with Shastri Cal Aston and our Center Director Melanie Klein will offer short talks to encourage our practice and contemplation of Being Kindness. AND, for those still awake at 2 am, we will have a Dharma Video!
(See schedule below.) Food will be offered throughout the day (all the tea and coffee you can drink, snacks, dinner, AND breakfast).

    Finishline Celebration and Prizes!
At noon on Sunday, December 10th, we will finish the sit-a-thon
with a celebratory Brunch for all participants and sponsors. During the brunch, FOUR prizes will be awarded to those with the most hours sat and the most money raised! Sitters could win a week solitary retreat at DKD, a certificate for the Marpa House Winter Retreat, or program credit to the Boulder Shambhala Center (two certificates will be offered.)

ALL levels of meditation experience are welcome! Sit for 1-24 hours as you are able OR sponsor a participant. The proceeds will go to benefit the Boulder Shambhala Center and our community!
