“In these challenging times, the flame of basic goodness has nearly been extinguished by the storm of concepts, and the spirit of humanity has been so dampened that we experience our goodness as a faint echo. As brave people, we must find the courage to gently blow on this ember of goodness.”                                                                                                                         – Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche

Awakening In Society: What is Real?

Touching the Sacred Earth

Through guided sessions of meditation and exercises, we revitalize our connection to the earth,
our ancestors and future generations. Through exercises and dialogue, we awaken our sense
perceptions and reconsider our sense of what is sacred and meaningful in our life, aligning our
aspirations with our own deeply held values and ecological commitments.

What is real and what matters in our lives? What would it mean to reassess our participation in
the speed and consumer-driven orientation of modern society that is rapidly degrading our
planet?

This course explores the Buddhist teachings on interdependence and their connection to
an ecological worldview and alternative ways of being in right relationship with our environment.

  • Who Am I? Exploring Identity and Belonging
  • What Is Real? Touching the Sacred Earth
  • How Can I Help? Transforming Self and Society

Can we live with others in a healthy society, as human beings on this earth? This series, Awakening In Society, brings to life ancient teachings from the Buddhist and Shambhala traditions so we may experience their relevance in our life, in our relationship with our family, and in a global society of humanity.

These three courses fulfill the Basic Goodness Series requirement. This series uses uses the established curriculum, however, this pilot is renamed to help clarify that these teachings are different than what is presented in Shambhala Training levels.

The three courses can be taken in any order. There are no prerequisites.
