“In these challenging times, the flame of basic goodness has nearly been extinguished by the storm of concepts, and the spirit of humanity has been so dampened that we experience our goodness as a faint echo. As brave people, we must find the courage to gently blow on this ember of goodness.”                                                                                                                         – Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche

Awakening In Society: What is Real?

Touching the Sacred Earth

What really matters in our lives? In the new age of technology, the speed of modern society is becoming even faster. What does it mean to reassess our participation in a corporate driven commercial based society? How do we care for our planet and for each other?

This course explores the classical Buddhist teachings on interdependence - we all are connected. We will also look at Joanna Macy's "work that reconnects". What would it look like to have a worldview that reconnects us to the ecology of mother earth and to each other? What would it mean personally?

Through guided sessions of meditation, we revitalize our connection personally, communally, and societally - for our earth, our ancestors and future generations. Though exercises and dialogue, we awaken our sense perceptions and contemplate what is sacred and meaningful in our life. In this way we re-align our aspirations with our own deeply held values and commit to live a meaningful life.
