In the Buddhist view, birth and death constitute the experience of consciousness, as both microcosm and cosmos. We’re born into one life after the next, just as each moment is born and dies, replaced by something new. The six realms, which will be taught, describe ways we become bewildered and entrapped by our projections, producing deluded thinking and confused actions. We’ll look in detail at what this is and how this happens, in a moment to moment sense and as a lifetime to lifetime experience. We’ll examine how this might play out for each of us personally, establishing how we might address our own karmic tendencies and transform them into liberation. This includes understanding how principles of karma, bardo, consciousness, and the nature of mind come into play in our daily lives.

The class will use some of Chogyam Trungpa’s classic descriptions, as well as an extensive contemplation of the six realms from Gary Allen’s most recent book, Transmigration Suite.
