Support the Center

There are three primary ways to support the center:  Membership, Volunteer Service, and Donations.

Since 1973, the Shambhala Community has occupied a special place in Boulder’s history; since 1976, the sangha has resided in its historic building at 1345 Spruce Street. There are literally thousands of hours of meditation practice that inhabit and energize this community home and our doors are consistently open to everyone from advanced practitioners to those interested in learning about meditation to those visiting Boulder for the first time.

Supporting the Boulder Shambhala Center is a way of acknowledging its history while at the same time inspiring its continued mission to create enlightened society as a cultural center that values practice, generosity and kindness.

It is because of our members that the profound tradition of meditation is able to survive and flourish. Membership is a way to tangibly express appreciation for what Shambhala provides; it also helps make it available to others by giving the center a stable and known base of community practice, volunteer service and financial support.

Although membership is not required to participate in much of what the center has to offer, without our membership support, we would not be able to offer all the wonderful programs, practice sessions, and events that we do.

Volunteer Service

General Volunteering  There are many opportunities to get involved by supporting the center in general, such as volunteering at our front desk or coordinating our introductory programs or helping us prepare for special events and holidays. There are also opportunities to work in the office as an occasional support or an ongoing basis. We invite you to give back in whatever way and want to support your practice of generosity. The Boulder Shambhala Center remains open because of the ongoing generosity of our Members, program participants and donors. Our community has a fundamental commitment to the Mahayana path of benefiting all sentient beings. This frames the way that we think about all of our sources of revenue. Your contribution goes toward creating mediation programs, developing outreach opportunities, expanding into other areas of the city and making it possible for more people to practice meditation, experience the Shambhala teachings, and become familiar with their own minds and hearts.

General donations fund our annual operating budget which includes building expenses, office expenses, shrine and practice expenses, payroll for the center’s employees, and our center’s contributions to Shambhala International.
