    Sukhavati Ceremony for BILL SCHEFFEL

    Thursday July 12 at 5:30pm

Family and friends will gather for a Sukhavati Ceremony for Bill Scheffel. The ceremony at the Boulder Shambhala Center will be led by Chuck Lief and Lila Rich.

Bill was a deeply dedicated student of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche and was a teacher of Shambhala Training, with a strong connection to 'drala'.

Bill taught meditation and was also a writer who studied with Allen Ginsberg and Anne Waldman. He earned an MFA from Naropa University in the 1990's and then spent several “visionary” years traveling to Cambodia and Turkey.

Earlier this year Bill led workshops in "Transcending Madness: Resources for Mental Health" creating a sanctuary where meditation/yoga and bearing witness become the basis for an intimate community and a deep journey into healing and mental health.

"To relate with total openness means that you are completely captured by someone’s problem.  There may be a sense of not knowing quite how to handle it and just having to do your best, but even such clumsiness is an enormously generous statement.  So, complete openness and bewilderment meet at a very fine point." -- from Acknowledging Death, an article by Vidyadhara Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche
