Contentment in Everyday Life -Through the gentle precision of meditation practice, free from self-aggression, almost without effort, we might find that we begin to appreciate simple experiences in our life. Difficult emotions and the challenges of life can be met with curiosity, steadiness, and humor. The CIEL course is an experiential training in contentment as well as an exploration of the obstacles or challenges to experiencing simplicity, gentleness, and mindfulness in everyday life.

This course deepens our practice of sitting meditation and introduces the practice of contemplation.

Each class includes a guided meditation and/or contemplation, a short talk or teaching, a brief social time, and time for a discussion about how the material relates to daily life.

Prerequisite: None
Recommended: Meditation in Everyday Life; Shambhala Training Levels I, II.

Please plan on attending each session of the program.

About the Way of Shambhala:

The Way of Shambhala is composed of Shambhala Training Levels I-V, each followed by a five-week In Everyday Life course that expands upon what was offered in the weekend.

Contentment in Everyday Life is the second of the five courses that accompany the Shambhala Training levels. It is recommended either before or after Shambhala Training Level II, but Contentment in Everyday Life can be taken on its own.

Over the course of a year, the Way of Shambhala introduces the entire Shambhala path. This series offers a glimpse of the Shambhala vision of enlightened society by emphasizing the ways in which meditation can impact our daily lives, and from there, how the sanity of meditation can expand to impact our community and our whole society.
